K. BRYANT HOMER TO WIN
Thanks to Kris Bryant's first career walk-off home run, the Chicago Cubs pulled out a wild 9-8 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Monday night.
Colorado jumped out to a 4-0 lead before watching Chicago score the next seven runs of the game in a three-inning span. The Rockies then used a four-run ninth to grab a one-run advantage.
That set the stage for drama in the bottom of the ninth.
Bryant came to the plate against Rockies closer John Axford with a runner on first and two outs. On the 1-0 pitch, the All-Star third baseman blasted a two-run shot into the bleachers above the left-center field wall.
With that, the 23-year-old rookie had his first walk-off homer.
Bryant, of course, got mobbed by his teammates at home plate and was the recipient of a Gatorade bath.
